The ingredients for making grilled fish are listed below;

For The Fish

  • 1 tsp ginger powder
  • Optional: 1 tsp suya spice
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp Cameroon pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Fish (Any of your choice)

For The Sauce

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1/2 scotch bonnet pepper
  • 1 stock cube
  • 1/4 tsp curry
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme

How to Make Barbecue Fish Sauce

  • First, Blend the scotch pepper, the bell pepper, and tomatoes.
  • Fry the onion in vegetable oil in medium heat then add the tomatoes and pepper mix.
  • Stir gently for a while.
  • Add the stock cube, thyme, curry, and stir.
  • Fry for about 15mins and taste for salt while frying.
  • You can either spread it on top of the Fish or serve it separately.

How To Prepare Barbecue Fish Using Oven

  • Wash, remove the scales on the fish and make some slight cuts on the fish for proper seasoning.
  • Set oven to 375F (~190C).
  • Mix all the ingredients for the fish inside the oil and apply to the fish. Make sure to fill the cuts on the fish.
  • Place the fish on a grill tray on top of a baking tray and place it inside the oven. 
  • Leave for 25 minutes, then switch to broil at 525F (~275C) for 5 minutes.

  • Also, Wash, remove the scales on the fish, and make some slight cuts on the fish for proper seasoning.
  • Heat your charcoal to a medium heat temperature.
  • Mix all the ingredients for the fish inside the oil and apply to the fish. Make sure to fill the cuts on the fish.
  • Put the fish inside a foil, then place on a grill tray and place it on top of the heated charcoal.
  • Leave for 10 mins then flip the fish upside down.
  • Leave for another 10 minutes and your grill fish is ready.
